377 people benefited from two-day free dental health camp, Barpak residents moved by French medical students’ service
A two-day free dental health camp was conducted at the Barpak health post in Gorkha with the financial support of Gorkha

Rajan Thapa Mutu Foundation Nepal, organized by Barpak-Sulikot Rural Municipality, and with the technical cooperation of Om Samaj Dental Hospital.
177 people availed the service on the first day of the camp, while there was a significant participation of local citizens from the morning on the second day as well. The camp, which was conducted with the aim of providing expert dental health services easily in remote areas, provided free dental checkups, consultations, teeth cleaning (scaling), teeth filling (filling), teeth extraction (extraction) and necessary medicine distribution services.
According to the organizers, 171 people were provided with teeth cleaning (scaling), 232 teeth extraction (extraction) and 171 teeth filling (filling) services in the camp. The same service recipient also took more than one service as per the requirement.
Dr. Harishankar Yadav, Dr. Sudesh Adhikari, Assistant Junu Pandit, Assistant Srijana Sunuwar and Om Samaj Dental Hospital Board Member and Social Activist-Journalist Rajan Thapa actively participated in the camp.
What made this camp even more special was the active participation of medical students who came to Nepal from France. Eva Donsez-Carod, Gaya Doney, Léonard Gorrias, Robin Mauuary, Zoé Pigault and Jeanne Bocqueraz enthusiastically contributed to the examination, treatment management and health awareness activities of the service recipients, working shoulder to shoulder with Nepali health workers. Their selfless service for the smiles of the citizens of remote villages from thousands of kilometers away moved the locals.
77-year-old Thyam Bahadur Ghale said that he had been suffering from dental problems for a long time but had not received the expected treatment at various hospitals. He shared his experience of feeling significant relief when he received treatment at Om Samaj Dental Hospital about a year ago and expressed gratitude to the organizers for reaching such a specialist service in the village.
Barpak-Sulikot Rural Municipality Chairman Bishnu Prasad Bhatta said that such health camps provide specialist services to citizens of remote areas in the village and expressed his commitment to the local government to continue supporting such public welfare programs.
Modraj Bhatta, Head of the Rural Municipality Health Branch, said that there is a great need for public awareness and treatment services related to dental health in rural areas and said that such camps will make a significant contribution to timely disease identification and treatment.
Keshab Giri, Head of the Health Post Branch, said that the camp was very effective, saying that local citizens were able to easily receive specialist services.
Aheb Bandana Purbe of Barpak Health Post said that the active support and cooperation of health workers, public representatives, locals and women health volunteers made the camp a success. Throughout the camp, female health volunteers played a significant role in registering service recipients, managing, facilitating and raising public awareness.
Dhan Bahadur Gurung, Chairman of Mutu Foundation Nepal, said with emotion, “It was heartbreaking to see the citizens of Barpak having to endure a lot of suffering and expenses even for basic dental treatment. We have continued this campaign with the belief that health services should be accessible to everyone. The smiles of the citizens are our greatest achievement. Mutu Foundation will always be with us in such humanitarian services in the coming days as well.”
Dhan Bahadur Ghale, Ward Chairman of Barpak-Sulikot Rural Municipality-1, praised the camp and said that providing specialist dental services to the citizens of remote settlements in the village is a highly commendable work. He expressed his commitment to continue the necessary coordination and support for the operation of such health camps in the coming days as well.
Through the camp, citizens of rural and remote areas have received easy, quality and free dental treatment services from specialist doctors. Locals have urged for the continuation of such health camps, saying that along with treatment, they have also contributed significantly to increasing public awareness about dental health. This camp, which has become an excellent example of humanitarian cooperation between Nepal and France, has brought smiles to the faces of the citizens of remote villages and has also sent a message that service has no limits.
